I have a deep and abiding sympathy for service workers in resort towns. You know, having lived in one for 3 years. People at home are bad enough. People on vacation are terrible. They are almost always entitled, obnoxious, and shitty tippers. Kids are off schedule, tired, and prone to tantrums - and parents don't want to deal because vacation. I seriously squirm at some of the behavior I see .

I'm an obnoxiously good tipper in tourist traps.

yep, agreed! I'm pretty sure there's not enough money or motivation in the world to make me willingly do service work in a resort town.

Yeah, I can't even imagine the shit they must put up with.

Would that all were as sensitive and compassionate as you in this regard.

on behalf of service people "thank you!!!"

It's not fun when you work in service and the total comes to $19.75 (for example) and someone asks if you can give them back the $0.25 in "small change, cause they'd like to tip"....... um.... we don't even carry coins lower than a quarter in the bar, because no.

Tell me about it. I waited table for a handful of years, and the number of people who were both entitles asshats and terrible tippers was astounding.
